Many people influence a child's growth and development. My parents, my brothers and sisters, neighbors, cousins, friends, and teachers are the people that I remember most. They are the people who taught me about love, friendship, communication- and more of those important life lessons that we all need in order to be successful in life. They are the ones who nurtured my self-esteem and built my confidence. They are the ones who taught me to persevere and never give up on things that are important to me. It is difficult to narrow the "web" of relationships down to a few people, but listed below are a few of the most influential people from my childhood.
My Dad: Thank you for being open to talk about anything, for being adventerous, silly and honest.

My Mom: Thank you for being patient, safe and predictable, understanding, respectful, selfless and just plain motherly.

My mom and I. |
My Brother: Thank you for being my first friend and always making me laugh.

I feel lucky to have experienced a loving, supportive and safe childhood. Parenting is not an easy job and all parents make mistakes, but I know that my parents did the best they could and always put me and my siblings as first priority. Thank you, Mom and Dad!
This is wonderful Mary! I am sure your parents will be thrilled to see this. I think we appreciate our parents so much more now that we are parents. I assume the precious little one is your in the profile pic. I really enjoyed the personalized touch with your "thank you's to your mom, dad and brother!
ReplyDeleteYour post was great. It must have been fun to have such a large family. And if children came with manuals I'm sure parenting would be a piece of cake.
ReplyDeleteYour post was great. It great that you have big family who they nurture you taught you all lesson you need to be successful in our life.
ReplyDeleteMary, I love the way you displayed your pictures and words to show how your life was impacted. I agree it is hard to limit it to five people who have touched your life in some shape or form.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures. Unfortunately, I have no pictures left of my family when I was small.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have had a loving, supporting family. Do you ever wonder what your life would have been like if you had the family that some of your students have? I often do, and am thankful I had the support I had, though it was not the best. The good and the bad make us what we are.
Pictures make all those childhood memories come alive again! I loved reading your post and having the pictures to refer back to. Its puts a face to the store and person you are speaking of. I'm glad you have such a supportive family growing up. I did to and I'm so grateful for that.
